Hello! My name is David Prew and I am the owner of Plantscape Solutions. We specialize in maintaining homes that require all aspects of landscape care. From mowing, fertilization, trimming plants, and even lawn top dressing.
Our clients want a landscape that looks great minus the dirt under the nails and toiling in the yard for hours a week themselves.
Lawn Care With Our Personal Touch
We only service a certain number of clients and have no ambition to be the biggest generic company in town where clients are little more then account numbers. As the owner am still the guy who answers the phone and wears multiple hats. I know all my customers by name. I personally come out to do all the seasonal landscape fertilization type applications myself.
If an irrigation zone valve sticks on or any another type of landscape emergency arises you can reach me whether it be a Monday or a Sunday. Sometimes things don’t happen during bankers hours and we realize this.

No Contracts Here
Nobody can tell how our crazy the Austin, Texas weather will be from year to year and how long the growing season will last. Most of the time the average lawn needs to be mowed about 35 times a year but the average landscape company will give you a contract that requires 42 lawn services per year. You will probably end up paying for service you didn’t need. That doesn’t make sense.
I will personally walk your property with you and give you expectation for what things should cost for mowing, hedge trimming, and all the services we provide. If you end up needing less mowing or other services that is what you are going to pay for.
Each month you are given a detailed invoice that shows exactly what you are paying for. It shows the date and times of any work performed such as hedge trimming. It will even go a step further and provide a summary of the plants trimmed such as Cherry Laurels, Boxwoods, and so on. You should always know what you are paying for
Landscape Inspection
When walking a potential clients property I always make a list of items that could become a problem in the future. Whether it be Red Tips that succumb to fungal issues, lesser varieties of Crepe Myrtles prone to Milder, shade issues, drainage issues, or irrigation issues I’m going to look at everything thoroughly. Addressing issues proactively instead of reactively is always better.
Knowledge and Training are Key
The average landscape maintenance crew in Austin probably can’t tell you the name of more then one plant in your landscape. I truly don’t know how anyone can maintain a landscape if they know so little about the plants and their care.
My Plantscape Solutions maintenance crew knows the names of more landscape plants then many of our great customers. I don’t see how a landscape can be maintained if the crew can’t communicate any issues they see with specific plants or the lawn. I’m sure you take your car to a skilled place that has the expertise to recognize and fix specific problems.
Often the value of your landscape can equal or exceed the value of your average car. A landscape is a living ecosystem that can easily be damaged by improper care often at the hands of a company that has good intentions but lacks the proper skill set to diagnose minor problems before they become big ones.
Improper use of fertilizers, insecticides, herbicides, or fungicides can harm your landscape, run off into the Austin drinking water supply, or leach into the Edwards Aquifer. We are licensed (Lic. 0611373) by the Texas Department of Agriculture and engage in certified continuing education training classes. The landscape your family and pets interacts with should be a safe environment. For more information visit our more detailed Lawn Fertilization and Pest Control page.
No Riding Mowers Here!
The norm at most companies is they use big 1500 pound ZTR riding mowers that compact and rut up the landscape. For small area we use a good old fashioned push mower and for the larger areas we use a 36″ commercial walk behind mower.
All mowers have the chutes covered with mulching plates to prevent grass from being blasted into flower beds or other places. Mulching bladed are also used to better cut up and process the grass clippings. This speeds the decomposition cycle and helps prevent thatch buildup. It also forces the clippings down to the soil level instead of blowing them on top of the lawn.
